The Dandies are Coming!  The Dandies are Coming!

June 6, 2026 has been declared World Dandie Dinmont Terrier Day.

With less than 250 puppies born world wide, concerns about the future of this historic, unique and lovable breed are shared by breeders and pet owners alike.

In order to raise public awareness of the breed’s plight, groups of Dandie Dinmonts in various locations all over the world will simultaneously gather together on the exact same day and hour (adjusting for regional time zones).

Think of it!!!  A one-day event, in every nation that features Dandie Dinmont Terriers, all assembling at the same time; 2 p.m. local time, connecting with the public to introduce them to one of the finest family companions. The choices of the locations will be left to the team leaders in each country.

Hundreds of Dandie lovers are making plans to congregate in 20 nations beginning in Australia, travelling westward across Asia and Europe, throughout England, Scotland and Ireland, over the ocean to the United States and Canada ending up at the Pacific coast.  A whirlwind tour of the world of Dandies.

We are expecting that 90% of this endangered breed across the world will participate in this one-day rally.  Their owners will demonstrate their passion for the unique and remarkable Dandie Dinmont Terrier.

Viewers can watch the gatherings on a dedicated Facebook page, and learn more about this endangered breed.

Watch this space for more information about the event and where in the world the Dandies will be seen.
